December 29 Exes Name New Luncheon Date The second Saturday ot each month has been selected as the regular luncheon date for the exstudents and faculty of the San Antonio Junior College. These luncheons are held at the Old SOuth Cafe by the Aztec Theatre entrance from twelve untll one o'clock. SOme of the time there have been more than twenty at these luncheons tor renewing old acquaintances and making new ones. SO come around sometime and see what you are m1ss:tng. The first luncheon under the new schedule wlll be held on January 13th and a large crowd Is expected even though It Is the tblrteenth. Much of the success of these luncheona 1s due to the faithful wort of the telephoning committee. SO 1f you want to be reminded of the luncheon each month give our secretary your phone number and you will be reminded. You may br.tng a friend or even drop 1n any time during the luncheon. - -&-- Ex-Students To Meet Jaysee Varsity Annual basket ball sertea between a plcked team from the Exes and the Varsity of s. L J. c. ls again planned for the Xma.s HoUdaya. This Is the ttftb annual series to be held and develops real competition. The Exes will have as cocaptains Mr. Jay Sam Levey and Mr. Chas. Bates. Watch the newapapers for definite dates. The annual Christmas dance wrn be held on Frlday night Dec. 29th at the Ft. Sam Houston Of· fleers Club. The Ambassadors orchestra will furnish the music tor the dance from nine till twelve. Everybody will be there to greet you and you can renew old acquaintances o.nd make many new friends. Some of the faculty members will be there and they will be glad to see you again. You will have a great time, so grab a date and Invite your frlends to attend this dance. Blds can be secured at the door but they should be secured 1n advance from any member of the executive commitee or 'from Mra. Barnes at the college. All bids are one dollar, but members of the Ex-Stwdents Association who have pald their dues will get a twentytJve cent refund at the door. With Only an average attendance but a crowd unusually gay in spirt, the affair was declared a success by Her-bert Eitt, chairman of the social committee. “This was the first dance of the year and gives promises of many more enjoyable times for Jaysee students,” Eitt stated. The Am-bassadors provided music for the affair. Major and Mrs. Young acted as hosts for the dance. “Credit should be given the fol- lowing committee members who worked to make the affair a suc- cess: Phyllis Wegner, Barbara Schutz, John William Cary, Tom- my Taylor and Raymond Dowdy, “ Eitt concluded. LEVEY TALKS TO LEGAL CLUB ON LAW SCHOOLS Mr. Jay Sam Levey spoke to the Bar Association last Friday, Dec- ember 8, on “The Ups and Downs of the Legal Profession”. He subs-stituted for Mr. Barnes who was unable to come on account of sickness. after admitting that he was Much better able to discuss law schools than law practice, Mr. Levey related some of his ex- periences while obtaining his legal education. “One of the hardest jobs that faced me during this period, “said he, “was getting a negro porter up at the University to sign a recommendation to the Supreme Court, testifying as to my good character and reputation.” The speaker stated that San Antonio Junior College has the highest rating with the Dean of the University Law School of any Junior College in the State. He said that he found courses and methods of study learned at this school most beneficial to him while in Austin. He urged every person in attendance, if possible, to at- tend a university law school in preference to a night schedule. Mr. Levey is a former student of the Junior College, having won State Championship in debate for J.C. He graduated from the University of Texas in the spring and has already established an enviable record as practising law- yer in this city.
